Ramnath Goenka Award For P. Sainath And Karan Thapar

The Hindu's Rural Affairs Editor P. Sainath, Karan Thapar, Nidhi Razdan and Neelesh Mishra are among the 29 journalists who were conferred the coveted Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards on Monday (13th April) in New Delhi. Mr. Sainath and Mr. Thapar were chosen as ‘Journalists of the Year’ in print and broadcast categories respectively.
 
Ms. Razdan of NDTV won the award in the category of reporting from Jammu and Kashmir. V K Sasikumar of CNN-IBN was honoured for his reportage from the North-East. Mr. Neelesh Mishra and Nagendra Sharma of Hindustan Times won the honours in the category of ‘Uncovering India Invisible (Print). The award in the broadcast category of the same segment went to Mridu Bhandari of CNN-IBN.
 
The awards were presented to these eminent journalists by Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan at a function in New Delhi. The jury panel consists of three members including Hindustan Times Chairperson and Editorial Director Shobhana Bhartia, filmmaker Shyam Benegal and agriculture scientist M.S. Swaminathan.
