For the first time ever, more people are getting their news via web than newspapers

For the very first time, more news readers are getting their fix by way of web rather than newspapers. According to a Poynter Institute study, this happened by the end of 2010. They also discovered that more advertising dollars were spent on online media than on newspapers.
In surveys, 34% of respondents said they read news online within the past 24 hours (as opposed to 31% who favored newspapers); and a full 41% said they get most of their news online, 10% more than those who said they got most of their news from a newspaper.
Even more interesting than that (and more discouraging for media purists) is the fact that online outlets were the only medium that saw any growth last year. Every single traditional media platform from radio to television to print saw significant declines in audience.
